December 11

Sometimes I am amazed by how time changes once you have children.  The saying that "the days are long but the years are short" is quite accurate.  It's been three and a half years since Little Buddy joined our family.  It's passed in the blink of the eye but also feels like we've never known life without him in it.  We love you, sweet boy!

Three and a half today!

We've been keeping busy this month as we've enjoyed a great visit with Mamaw and Papaw and continued to adapt to life with a baby sister.

Loved spending time with Mamaw!

Bath time is sure different with two!

Two peas in a pod!  Little Buddy loves to incorporate her into his routines and tries his best to play with her (we keep working on "gentle")!

Though he does work to make sure that we don't forget to give him attention!

We even managed to take our beast of a double stroller out for it's inaugural use.  We were quite the sight as we took a stroll around the neighborhood!

It's quite the family affair to take the dog for a walk!

There have a been a lot of art projects going on around our house as well.  As the weather turns cool and rainy, we've been inside more and art projects are some of the best ways to occupy my little guy.  And they are also a great way to make Christmas presents (can't believe it's right around the corner)!

Playdough and painting

Gingerbread house decorating and the fruits of our ornament painting!

And looky here, we even got our first Santa picture done with our two little ones!

Height and Weight
Still 50 lbs. and hanging right around 42 inches (bit of discrepency between our height measurement at home and the doctor measurement from the hospital downtown).

Big guy!

Personality
Still very happy and sweet, but still a bit shy in big groups.  He does get a temper when he doesn't get his way (or when I tell him it's time to go potty and he doesn't want to go), but otherwise is still pretty easy going.  However, I have noticed the "selective hearing" having developed.  He only hears what he wants to hear sometimes!

Developmental Milestones
Potty training is still going well!  We have let go of the idea that he is going to wake up one day and be perfectly potty chained.  It is definitely a process with this one!  He is beginning to tell us in stores when he has to go, which is a huge step.  We are still working on him being comfortable enough to tell other people.  What is really funny is that his biggest motivation is not anything immediate, but the promise Papaw made him that if he did his business in the potty he could have a ride on Papaw's school bus in January.  Never knew a kid that was motivated by delayed gratification!  Between that and a promise he can join the swimming team once he is potty trained, we might reach this milestone one day!

Papaw's school bus!

Fun Tidbits
Just a few funny things to record so that we don't forget them!

Elbow water:  If Little Buddy showers with us, he always tries to fill the rinse cup with water that drips off our elbow...hence "more elbow water please, Momma."  Never fails to crack me up!

Hey kids:  He refers to all people he doesn't know as "kids."  This means when he tries to talk to anyone (e.g., cashiers, police officers, old ladies) he calls out to them, "Hey kids, what are you doing?"

He also can sight recognize several works, including: Momma, Daddy, Baby, Chesney (our dog's name), our last name, his name, and his sister's name.  I'm excited to get him on the right track for reading!

Looking forward now to Christmas.  Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!
