July 11

We blinked and somehow summer is half over!  It's moving quickly and we are definitely feeling the effects of over scheduling this year...it's just been go, go, go!

Right after Little Buddy's birthday, Little Sister and Daddy took a quick trip to Florida to visit Mimi and Pop-Pop.  This gave Little Buddy and Momma some quality time together.

Fun together!

First pool day of the season!

Mr. C visited with a belated birthday present!

Momma even got Ms. A to come help out for a night!

Chick-Fil-A date with Momma!

Celebrating Daddy and Little Sister home with some Jason's Deli!

We had a few quick days with Little Sister before she was off to Girl Scout camp and Little Buddy was an only child again.

Cheering Lil Sis on at her District Swim Meet!

Father's Day lunch at Chuys to celebrate the best Daddy!

House of Pies lunch with Daddy as an only child!

When Little Sister came home, it was time for our next camp. WOW Science Camp always makes a fun week and we're so glad for a camp they both can participate in.

Ready for our first day at WOW!

Stopping at the library really quickly to pick up our summer reading prizes!

Lots of fun learning at WOW!

A quiet few minutes at home after camp!

At the end of WOW Camp, we had another adventure lined up.  We ate lunch, left WOW, and headed north to Dallas for a whirlwind weekend of activities!

Quick stop at Collins Street Bakery on the way to our next adventure...Dallas!

Enjoying dinner and a show at Medieval Times!

Crossing off the 9th stadium from his list at the Astros-Rangers game!

Helping Little Sister live the dream of finally watching a WNBA game! Go Wings!

We found another Mellow Mushroom and had to go!

Honestly, I think my kids just like hotel life and unlimited TV!

We got back from Dallas just in time for Indepedence Day! It's been very hot here so instead of any outdoor activities, we decided to finally take advantage of our Museum of Natural Sciences membership.

Happy Birthday, America!

Checking out the pendulum!

We enjoyed the King Tut and Egyptian sections!

Butterfly garden time!

Neither of the kids are big fans of late nights or big booms, so we did some early, low key fireworks and sparklers to celebrate the holiday and everyone was happy.

Enjoying our private show!

My favorite boy.

Happy 4th of July!

Even without trips and holidays, we've kept plenty busy!

Walks on the waterway and checking out the art benches!

Boat days in the sun and swimming in the rain!

Cartoon time for the best siblings ever.

We got some more Ms. A time!

Finally checking out the renovations at Teddy Bear Park!

Height and Weight
The weight battle continues.  Little Buddy is 109 pounds this month.  And now we worry.  We've had a few good days of eating, but the many rough days of not eating (main issues: problems chewing and taking a long time to finish a meal) is taking its toll on him with his weight and us with our concern.  We did find out, though, that we had been underestimating how many calories he needed.  We had been serving him about 2200-2300 calories but found a children's calorie calculator that said he needed 2600-2800 calories right now!  We have since been working to fatten him up with things like whole milk yogurt and butter and even pureed meat from the baby food aisle.  Anything to get concentrated calories in during meal times.  We hope to see some gains, or at least some stabilization, next month.

Little Buddy, sitting at the table, ready for Momma to try to shovel food in.

Personality
For someone losing weight and not getting enough calories, someone is still very sweet and happy and instead of grumpy and hangry.  Makes me hope we're just playing catch up with a growth spurt!

Such a sweetheart!

Developmental Changes

Besides the eating issues, we're also seeing a bit of learning and balance issues.  PT will help to try to address those and we'll see if we can combat it at all.

We did also add in some more fine motor work.  Turns out "Cheerio tray" is a great way to work on pincher grasp and get a few extra calories in.  He seemed to like it!

Thanks to Buster for helping to clear up the resulting mess on the floor!

Fun Tidbits
While Little Buddy was playing upstairs one day, it got a bit quiet.  We went up to check on him and, lo and behold, someone was taking an impromptu nap!  What a sweet sight!

Sleepy baby!

We've got even more adventures coming up next month.  Can't wait to share them!

Good night,

LBM
