May 11 and First Communion!

We are coming into the school year and rounding it out with a lot of firsts...first school field trip, first Cure SFF 5k, and, most significantly, his First Holy Communion!  Lots of fun stuff for our Little Buddy!

School has still been going really well for our little guy.  He loves his new teacher and is still excited to go on the school bus.

Ready for school!

The end of the school year always brings one of the toughest days of the year for me, Career Day, where they ask the children what they want to be when they grow up.  While everyone else is thinking out careers, all I can think is that I hope my child is alive and healthy and happy.  That's enough for us.  It was also hard this year because this was the first year Little Buddy couldn't outright answer the question for us (past years he wanted to be an engineer like his Daddy or an airplane pilot).  He does love baseball though and seemed to be excited when we offered him this option!

The cutest Astro ever!  It's a hard day, but we live it, just like every other day.  And like every other day, we focus on the memory we are making of our boy.

Our big school excitement for the month was going on his first ever school field trip!  We went to an outdoor theater downtown for a kids' opera.  I got to go as his aide and he actually did better than I expected with everything!

Buckled in and ready to go his field trip!  Spoiled because Momma drove him so he could listen to his tunes and chill.

Enjoying the opera!

The tigers were his favorite part!

All the second graders had a picnic lunch afterwards.  I pulled Little Buddy in for a selfie, but he had a different idea and gave me the biggest thank you kiss ever!  It made me so happy!

When we aren't in school, we are still keeping busy!  Lots of things to do!

Like doing the IRONKID race again and being an official IRONKID for the second time!

Or being awesome at horse therapy!

Or playing hooky from school to get his port flushed and a special mid-week family lunch at his favorite...Chuy's!

But the best part of this month was that Mamaw, Papaw, Aunt D, Uncle C, and J came to visit so we could all celebrate the big event of Little Buddy's first Communion!

Giving Aunt D lots of love!

All smiles for Uncle C!

Cousin movie night!

Looks like a new biker gang rolled into town!

Ready to roll!

And they're off!

Loving biking with Uncle C!

It also worked out that another Sanfilippo family held a 5k to benefit the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation, so it was great that we are all able to attend and show our support!

Taking a stroll on the course with Mamaw!

Abby, Will, Gabo, and Seth.  Four Sanfilippo warriors!

And then it was time for the big day, First Communion!  After all Little Buddy and I's work in Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation classes, we were so excited for his special day.  He did really well and we were so glad our family and friends were there to celebrate with us.

Ready to process in!

Here he goes!

Congratulations, buddy!

Hanging with his friends!

Loves his godparents!

So proud of our boy!

Family shot!

The rose he received bloomed beautifully!

Such an amazing day.  We are so glad we got to celebrate this important milestone in our faith with so many people who love our boy.

Height and Weight
Weighs 70 pounds and still 53.75 inches!

Hey handsome!

Personality
Again, up and down with sleep which completely affects how acts each day.  The first half of the month was AWFUL for sleep, but he's since settled back into a more regular routine.  When he sleeps he is happy and energetic.  When he doesn't, he's distracted and lethargic.

Developmental Changes
No big changes, thank goodness.  Hopefully once school is out I can work with him even more on his language and motor skills to maintain them.

Love every moment with this kid!

Fun Tidbits
Often times, Little Sister has to cheer on her big brother in his activities, but since she's now added swim team into her schedule, Big Brother gets to be the cheerleader!  He's not thrilled by not also being able to swim, but he's definitely interested when he watches her.

Go sister, go!

See you in summertime (eeek!),
