Pumpkin Patch and Halloween!

I thought it would be good to just combine our annual holiday activities into one post, so here it is!

Although Texas doesn't believe that it is fall and continues to deal us 90 plus degree temperatures, we still mustered up our pumpkin shirts and headed over to the local pumpkin patch for a fun morning.

Hayride!

Slide time!

Ride that turkey!

Lots of fun climbing pumpkin mountain!

Little Sister did a great job of designing her pumpkin face...unfortunately, we never found time to carve it!  But she liked her drawn on face just fine!

Skye and the airplane pilot are ready for candy!

Trick or treat went pretty well!  Little Sweetie figured out she had to knock BEFORE yelling out trick or treat and Little Buddy used his words to say trick or treat and thank you!  His biggest issue was being distracted by all of the mailboxes!  He loves mailboxes!

My handsome pilot!

Enjoying their spoils!

Happy Halloween,

October 11

Here we are in October and Little Buddy is FINALLY all settled into his routines.  He's getting on the bus without argument, he's enjoying school, and he's wearing his orthotics without complaint for a good chunk of the night, and he's sleeping well.  I couldn't ask for more!

"Good morning...Wait, are you taking my picture again Momma?

Modeling his AFOs.  He'll sleep most of the night in them but if he wakes up, we just take them off and he curls right up and goes back to sleep.  So he's getting stretched for part of the night at least while he adjusts.  We'll take that as a win!

Fall also means that the boating season is coming to an end, but it also means that Run Club is starting!  And Little Buddy also got to start another new thing...horse therapy!

Having fun with Daddy during one of the last boat rides of the season!

Back at Run Club!  Two miles in the books!

Look at this cowboy!  We are so excited for horse therapy...besides being fun for Little Buddy, it will also help stretch his hips and strengthen his core muscles!

And, of course, there's always Minnesota...

Momma's face when she realizes that she left Prince Wednesday at home in Texas!

Thankfully, time with our friends helped distract Little Buddy from the missing toy.  Unfortunately, the reason all of our friends were in town was to get their ports removed because the Type A trial was cancelled.  We are happy in their company but brokenhearted for the reason.

We had another fun surprise this trip...Momma's friend from Ohio, Ms. A, happened to be in Minneapolis too!  She so kindly came to hang out with us at the hospital for part of the afternoon (and brought Momma food)!  Little Buddy had so much fun with her!

Speaking of visitors, Momma's cousin Mr. B was in Texas for work and he also came to visit!  As you can see, both kids love it when visitors come to read to them. :)

Thank you for the books and for reading to us, cousin B!

Otherwise, it's been a typical month!  Looking forward to lots more fun and Halloween excitement!

Silly boy is ready for Halloween to come and gets an A for effort for trying the potty.

Love this kid!

Height and Weight
He's nearly 5 1/2 inches and weighs 62.8 lbs!  Here's our growing boy all ready for picture day!

My handsome first grader!

Personality
SO much happier now that he's settled in!  Sleep does wonders for his soul (and his Momma's general quality of life)!

Happy boy!

Developmental Changes
We have noticed an uptake in his talking recently, which is nice!  I am wondering if it is due to him finally settling into this routine.  He's also found a new love of donut holes and his smiles as he eats them as his after school snack warms my heart.  It's the little things.

We do notice other things though.  His chewing behavior is low but we have also noticed that he's started twirling.  I think he's searching for sensory stimulation.  We also miss him saying "hip hip hooray" when he takes pictures (it took the place of "cheese" a long time ago), but we're just happy we can keep capturing his smile.

Fun Tidbits
Every month, we try to celebrate Little Buddy's birthday on the 11th.  Just a little something to help us celebrate every day we get with him.  Well, his best buddy, J, and his family in California always try to help us make this day special too.  They always send Little Buddy one of his favorite things...mail!  Whether it be a card, an art project, or a picture, our sweet boy is always excited to get something from his best friend.

Checking out his mail from his friends!

See you next month,

LBM
