Aunt D and Cousin J's Visit!

What a wonderful week!  Little Buddy's Godmother, Aunt D, and her son, Cousin J, came to visit.  While I know it was an emotional time for all of us as we continue to work through the reality of living with Little Buddy's diagnosis, it was also a time full of joy and fun as we spent it together as a family.

Little Buddy and Aunt D are all cozy on the "moon bed" (as all the kids took to calling the toddler air mattress) before being...

...interrupted by Cousin J!

We really did have a great time and the boys were inseparable.  They desperately wanted a sleepover, so we laid out a sleeping bag so they could watch movies together before going to bed in their separate rooms.  We figured this was the best way to ensure that these "sleepover" participants got some real rest!

Having fun during the movie!

Cousin love before bedtime! Great "sleepover" guys!

And what movie did we watch?  Frozen, of course!  Because we had a big treat scheduled for the next day...We were going to see Frozen on Ice!

Little Sister's ready to go to the show!

Frozen!

It is safe to say all three kids were enthralled (with the show and the popcorn)!

Ready for a quick parking lot picnic while we wait for the sea of cars to clear out so we can leave (Little Sister was hungry!).

After some morning snuggles, we kept the fun going by attending our friend, E's second birthday party the next day.  It was at a splash pad and Aunt D had no problems having some we fun with all the kiddos!  Little Buddy loved playing with her!

Good morning!  So lucky to have so much love!

I even got snuggles and tickles from the dynamic duo!

Cousin J has his new Houston Dynamo hat ready and can't wait for the party!

Aunt D, Little Buddy, and Cousin D running under the flower sprinklers!

"I'm going to get you Aunt D!  I love you!"

Cousin J's having a blast!

Little Sister's getting in on the fun!

Little Buddy couldn't be happier!

Great time at the splash pad!

After the party, Little Buddy decided to take them to his favorite place for lunch.  Time for Chuy's everyone!

Lunch was a treat for everyone!  Cousin J liked watching them make tortillas and then was so excited when he and Little Buddy were given hunks of dough to pretend to make tortillas too!  Little Sister just kept herself busy making sure Daddy didn't go hungry!

And nobody minded their push pop dessert either!

The kids napped and played the rest of the day and then were treated to a nature lesson because Mother Nature decided to unleash some golfball sized hail!  We've rarely had any hail here!

Crazy weather!

We ended the day trying to get this silly monkeys ready for bed!  So glad they have so much fun together!

Tickling themselves.  They think they are hilarious!

The following day was a Monday, and Little Buddy had his vision and hearing tests downtown.  We were so thankful to have Aunt D to stay here and watch Little Sweetie for us.  She hadn't been feeling well and a long day at the hospital would not have helped.  And a long day it was, but at least we found out that Little Buddy's vision was ok.  His hearing test was inconclusive so we have to go talk to an ENT about his eardrums before we can get tested again.  But he was quite excited to come back home to tell his cousin about the cows in tutus and getting to wear Daddy's sunglasses.  Then we got to paint together!  And catch lizards?!?!

Cousin J and Little Sister getting some quality time!

Helping do the dishes and then playing some peek-a-boo!

Enjoying a walk together and then a picnic outside!

Poor dilated eyes meant he got Dad's glasses on the way home!

Everybody got to paint their first initials!  I think they had a lot of fun!

Texas is lousy with lizards right now.  Daddy helped the kids experience nature while I stood a safe distance back and took pictures!

The next day was Aunt D and Cousin J's last day of their visit, so we made sure to pack in lots of fun before they left.  First off, I had to take Little Sister into the doctor because it turned out her sinus drainage had turned into her first ear infection, and a double at that!  Though Little Buddy was worried about Little Sister, he was more excited he got to stay home and have Aunt D and Cousin J all to himself!

Yay for playtime!

Sadly, though, it was a school day and the bus came much too soon...

Little Buddy enjoyed showing Cousin J his bus, but I know he was sad to have to leave him.  And us telling him that I was taking them to the airport wasn't his favorite thing to hear, either.

Daddy and I got to go to lunch one more time with Aunt D and Cousin J.  We really enjoyed their visit and wish they didn't have to leave (plus I loved the built-in babysitter and housekeeper Aunt D volunteered to be.  Can you just stay here forever?).

I'm going to miss this little guy!

The boys' faces later that afternoon when they realized that they visit was really over.  Hope we can see them soon!

Thank you for all the help and love, Aunt D!  You are so special to our family!

Always,

LBM
