July 11

Our newly minted 12 year old hit the ground running this month!  After the fun (and exhausting!) week of VBS, birthday celebrations, and lemonade stands, you would think we might slow down...think again!  We finished out the month with family visits, more camps, and medical appointments.  There's no slowing down here!

First up was a long-awaited visit from Mamaw and Papaw in honor of Little Sister's First Communion.  Mamaw and Papaw haven't been able to come for several years due to the pandemic, so it was so nice to have nearly a full week to spend with them!

Pool play time!

Celebrating Little Sister's First Communion with family and friends!

Enjoying Father's Day with Papaw!

J. William, William, and T. William.  My boys.

After their visit, it was time to go do a visit of our own.  We headed to New Braunfels to see Mimi and Pop-Pop again and for Will's annual birthday visit to Morgan's Wonderful!

Ready for our day!

So happy!

Enjoying the Ferris Wheel!

Sensory Village fun!

Got some playground time in too!

Time to head into the main attraction, Inspiration Island!

So much fun at the splash pads!

Sweet new hat as a souvenir!

Breakfast time with Daddy and Pop-Pop!

Little Buddy and Pop-Pop!

We had a great visit!

And Little Buddy even got to visit a (small) Buc-ee's on the way home!

When we got back, it was time for....another camp!  WOW Science Camp was our next adventures and both kids enjoyed it again.  Always so grateful for a camp with a special needs cohort so Little Buddy can participate too!  We also really enjoyed being able to picnic with friends each day following the sessions.

Best parts of the first day...seeing that his buddy E was there and enjoying the giant bubble presentation!

The "dinosaur bone" dig site was a new feature this year and he really enjoyed examining the bones!

Getting a closer look at the dry ice experiment!

Animal encounters are always a favorite at science camp and this year was no exception. So many cool animals and the handlers always make sure that the Tadpole cohort gets the opportunity to observe them closely.

Observing fish in the aquarium!

Checking out a ball python and an Asian water monitor!

New this year...wolf dogs!

Buster was jealous when we got home!

Just a great week!

This kids also finished their summer library challenge and enjoyed picking out a reward book and lunch with Daddy to celebrate!

Science Camp and Summer Reading Certificates!

And then, in a blink of an eye, it was the 4th of July!  We've been so busy lately that we used it as a day to relax.  Also, since both kids go to bed early and aren't huge fans of fireworks, everyone was able to get some good sleep too!

Matching shirts, matching pajamas, and some sparklers...that good for us!

It's not all fun and games though.  Little Buddy also has a lot of doctor appointments in the summer.  Not his favorite things, but they need done!

Survived our vision test!

Also finally had our ABR (sedated hearing test).  Guess who gets some cool upgraded hearing aids??

But when we don't have doctor appointments or camps or holidays, we're just working on enjoying our summer together in the best ways we know how.

Boat time!

Chuy's lunches!

Splash pad time!

Height and Weight

We are pleased to report that Little Buddy is packing on the pounds again and begun working back up to BIG Buddy!  His well check weighed him at 101 pounds and about 5.2 inches but his audiology appointment had him at 106 pounds!  Keeping him over 100 is the goal now, so we're feeling very good about those numbers.

Big boy is enjoying his sleep in days, but I hate to tell him school is back in session in a month!

Personality
Happy, sweet, and so engaged.  Glad all his systems have gotten back on track and I can enjoy all his smiles and the sparkle in his eyes.

Full of joy when approving a new piggy puppet as a gift for Ms. J!

Developmental Changes
Doing very well!  As we mentioned last month, losing that tooth seemed to make all the difference in the world.  Now that his body systems seem to be back on track, it's just making sure we work in all his exercise and enrichment activities to keep him in tip-top shape!

Using his new Bosu ball from his birthday to work on core strength!

Both Little Buddy and Little Sister have enjoyed using the new dot markers Little Buddy got for his birthday!  It's fun for him and helps him work on some OT skills too!

Fun Tidbits
Little Sister had her first overnight camp this month, which means we got some quality time with just Little Buddy.  He enjoyed going out to lunch at Jason's Deli, extra swim time, and all the new shirts Daddy keeps passing down to him!

Enjoying a few days of "only child" status!

I can't believe that the next monthly entry will have him starting 7th grade.  Where did the summer go?

Good night,

LBM
