June 11: Someone Turns 8!

And June brings us into another birthday for our amazing boy!  Before we go into all of our summer antics, I just want to share these amazing photographs our photographer captured of our Little Buddy in honor of him turning 8!

Well, hello handsome!

Some love for Momma...

...some love for Daddy...

...but all the love for his little sister!  This series of pictures was so beautiful and stunning to watch in action that I had tears in my eyes!  We are blessed to have these memories!

My whole heart!

And of course we had to show our WILLPower!

Full speed ahead to another year!  May it be full of beauty and miracles!

Speaking of WILLPower, this past month found us in the middle of our 4th annual Purple Week!  Little Buddy enjoyed spreading awareness and especially enjoyed the Spirit Night at Chipotle!

A new shirt for each day of Purple Week!

Excited for quesadillas at Chipotle!

Ms. A was there so his heart was full!

Celebrating all the Sanfilippo kids that joined us for the Spirit Night!

As Purple Week ended, summer was getting ready to begin!  Little Buddy just had to get through the last week of May before summer break freedom!

All smiles on Memorial Day!

A taste of summer...baseball games...

...bike rides...

...and water/picnic day at school!

Unfortunately, all the summer fun seemed to have given Little Buddy a bit of an ant-school itch.  The day before school was supposed to get out, I got called to pick him up because he had a high fever!  I raced to pick him up, concerned.  When I got there he was cool and not upset   Actually, he was fine.  They told me that he had been really upset and that's when they had taken his temperature, so at least I knew then why it had been so high.  In any case, he was fine, but couldn't come back to school for 24 hours (and the last day was the next day) because he'd recorded a fever.  Oh well.  We decided to make the most of it and meet Daddy for lunch at Chuy's.  I'm pretty sure we got snowed and he just wanted to start summer break a day early!

Pounding burritos and all smiles...I'm pretty sure this "sick" kid pulled one over on us!

Up and at 'em on the first day of summer break!

"He he he, Momma!  No school for me!"

Had to stage some "Last Day of School" pics!

Happy to be out to lunch with Momma!

And once Little Buddy is out of school, the next big milestone arrives...HIS BIRTHDAY!!!  I can't believe our amazing boy turned 8 this month!

Last night of being 7...I couldn't pick a favorite smile!

Little Sister worked so hard to help make his cake!

Happy 8th birthday, beautiful boy!

Opening presents!

Love this face and grateful for every year, every month, every day, every moment with him!

Height and Weight
Weighs 71.4 pounds and still just under 54 inches!

Personality
We have lucked into a more stable sleep routine, so that has meant that our happy boy has returned more regularly!  Overall, he's happy and sometimes more excitable (which is not always a good thing).

Developmental Changes
Sleep has returned to a fairly normal thank goodness!  We have been pleased with seeing him function better with more sleep as well.  The funny part was that during the school year, it was like pulling teeth to get him out of bed by 7 to catch the bus.  Now that it's summer, he's up and at 'em before 6!  But as long as he's falling asleep at a reasonable hour and getting his rest, I'll take the early wake ups as opposed to the long nights!

One of my favorite sights to see!

We've also enjoyed the annual out of school talking increase!  So many more words!  HIs speech therapist loves it.  It confirms to us that maybe he's not losing his words and skills as quickly as we worried, but is just really tired out from school during the week.

Fun Tidbits

The start of Vacation Bible School aligned with his birthday this year!  Already, on the first day, the kids were so accepting and inclusive of him.  VBS Week always has me anxious, but so far it looks like we are going to have a time!

Until next month,

LBM
