Starting...

Well, we had our first genetics appointment today, which was hard, because it's the first step in confirming our new reality.  It's helpful, in a way, because once we have all the information, we'll better understand the difficult journey our family is facing, but still it's hard.  Very hard.

Very hard doesn't cover it.  Little Buddy made me a Mommy.  He's perfect in every way to me.  Genetics has to tell me that his perfect little body is failing him.  Sometimes I can't handle it.  But I try.  I try to live in the moment with him.  And that has to be enough right now.

It was a long day.  We left the house a little after 10 AM, met Uncle C for lunch around 11 AM, and then headed to the Children's Hospital for our appointment at 12:15 PM.  Originally, we were only supposed to have a physical examination of Little Buddy and Little Sweetie.  However, something actually went right with our insurance for once and we were able to get testing done immediately!  A full body x-ray, urine sample, and blood sample were ordered for Little Buddy.  It took forever to get all the tests done (especially since the blood sample orders were coded incorrectly and they couldn't find anyone to fix it for an hour), but done they are.  We finally finished up at the hospital at 5, grabbed something to eat because we didn't want to drive in rush hour traffic (hooray for the Chipotle in walking distance!  We'll take whatever winds we can), and then finally made it home at 7.  Again, it was a long day.  But I have to say that both kids did amazing considering the circumstances.  And I hope this holds up as we continue on with, what I'm sure, is endless upcoming doctor visits.

The kids with their favorite things at the hospital:  Little Sweetie loved the fish tank and Little Buddy couldn't get enough of the statues of cows in tutus!

It's a rough road in our future and we'll make it through as a family, but we still appreciate those keeping us in their prayers.

Good night,

LBM
