Making every day count...March 11

Every since we got the phone call, we've just been trying to be together as a family, doing the things Little Buddy loves to do.

We took him out of school on the Friday after the phone call and tried to distract ourselves from our grief by making him happy.  All we live for is his smile right now.  And what better way to make him smile than taking him to an extra My Gym class, buying him some new cowboy boots, and eating at his favorite restaurant, Chuy's?  Daddy and I had a few panic attacks of grief, but the kids were happy.  We tend to do better when we are moving and doing things, so that's what we'll do.

Little Buddy and Little Sweetie loved riding the stick horses around Cavander's.  And they also loved being treated to new hats and boots!

Chuy's always makes him happy.  And he loves taking his picture on this bench outside of the restaurant.

The next week was Little Buddy's Spring Break week.  We worked hard to make the most of it.  Every day is hard, but Little Buddy doesn't know that.  Our job is to make sure he doesn't know; that all he is knows is happiness and love.

A great morning at the library!  Love reading with Daddy.

Four years, nine months.  We will be celebrating each of his month birthdays from now on.  This time, he chose pancakes for dinner to celebrate.

Trolley time!  He loves riding the trolley around The Woodlands.  We can't wait to take him to Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood this summer so he can ride that trolley!

It's also Rodeo time in Houston!  We normally take the kids down during the day to the livestock show and attractions, but this year friends of ours couldn't go to the evening show with us, so we decided to take the kids instead.  We did a quick tour of the livestock area and kids' activities, ate some dinner, and were able to let the kids watch the actual evening rodeo events for the first time.  They loved it!

My cowboy enjoying his pony ride!

Cheese!

Learning about the rodeo!

We also got to go to the zoo to celebrate Daddy's birthday.   It's not easy to celebrate right now, but the main thing is that we try.

Walking with Daddy.

My little monkey.

They wouldn't pose together, but they loved watching the elephants today.  The momma elephant was giving the baby elephant a bath!

Was very excited to ride the zebra today!

Helping Daddy blow out his candles.  We love you Daddy!

Height and Weight
Back up to 57 lbs. and now up to 46 1/8 inches.

Personality
Happy and loving as always.  All I want is for that to stay the same.  I'm scared that this condition may steal the boy we love from us, but right now, in this moment, he is himself.

Developmental Milestones
I can't really comment as usual this month...it's just too hard.  I'm clinging to all the improvements we've been seeing as proof that he is still developing and that regression will be far down the line.  We will just keep pushing forward to give him as much independence as possible.

Fun Tidbits
No fun tidbits this month.  Just trying to savor every moment right now.  And trying to find hope.  Our genetics appointment is on March 19 and then the process of absorbing this really starts.

It's tough right now.  I can't lie.  Every day is tough.  Tough to breathe, tough to get out of bed, tough to believe anything will ever be right again.  But we're still here, still standing.  And still loving our perfect Little Buddy.

Good night,

LBM
