September 11

It's been a busy month of school, bathroom renovations, and baby prep (can't believe she'll be here next month!), but Daddy and I have been working hard to try to carve out some quality time with our Little Buddy.  Only a little time left as an only child!
Daddy and Will have been having lots of sports and guitar time together.  It's fun to watch my two favorite guys develop such a great relationship and laugh with one another.

Still loving his guitar...

...especially when he can play it with Daddy!

Baseball pitcher in the making!

Who's walking who here?

As for me and Little Buddy, I am just trying to schedule time out for us to be silly together and go do things that we won't be able to do once Baby Sister arrives.  I'm so excited for our new addition (as is Little Buddy!) but I know I'm going to miss the special one-on-one time we have together.

Silly time with Momma!

Taking our peanut butter donation to the Children's Museum for our August community service!

Up on stage at the museum

Lunch with my favorite fire fighter!

Finally took him on a boat ride on The Woodlands Waterway, which I have been trying to do for nearly a year!  So happy Ms. M and E could come with us!

"Look, Momma!  Darko!"

Little Buddy and E taking in the sites!

We had such fun with E that day!  We got to have more fun in a few weeks when we got to have E over to play for a day.  Love seeing Little Buddy play with his friends!

At My Gym!

What a fun day!  It was like I had two blond haired twins in my car!

Practicing sharing!  He's going to need to be ready for a sister!

Height and Weight
Currently he is 48 lbs. and a little over 41 inches.  Still a giant and still hungry all the time!

Personality
Still very sweet and becoming more and more sure of himself.  I love watching my cautious boy gain some confidence, though he can still be pretty shy and unsure in new situations or away from Daddy and I.

Developmental Milestones
Potty training is still ongoing.  He is definitely improving at going when asked to go, but still has accidents when not reminded that it is time to go.  Honestly, I think he just gets so involved playing that he forgets to listen to his body.  We are still only in diapers at nap and bedtime, so we're still going strong.  I'm very proud of him!

He's also becoming very interested in being a good helper.  I (mostly) love it!  I'm very happy that he is motivated to help (it will be a big asset once Baby Sister arrives), but sometimes toddler "help" can be a bit of a time consuming hindrance (like him helping me put laundry away involves me having to refold the laundry multiple times). I know he will be a big help to me once the baby is here.  He keep talking about it and giving her hugs and kisses on my tummy.  I'm so excited for him to be a big brother!

We've also noticed that he is starting to sound out the letters he sees in words.  He is already trying to read, which makes us very happy!  Though it isn't much of a surprise since he LOVES books.  I mean, he really loves books.  We've now caught him on the monitor at night (after he is all tucked in) getting out of bed, turning on his light, and reading books in bed.  After about a half hour, he turns off his light and gets back in bed to sleep.  As long as he's calm and quiet, we've decided to just let him be.  It's adorable to watch and we love that he is so interested in reading!

Speaking of sleep, though, we've had some dilemmas lately.  On any given day, he'll only take a 30 minute nap and then wake up sobbing.  Sometimes I can get him to calm down, but more often then not, he'll just be up.  This results in a very tired and pregnant Momma and a grumpy Little Buddy.  I'm hoping this phase passes soon, both of us need the rest!

Fun Tidbits
Even though he loves to eat, he's still not the best at trying foods that aren't his favorites.  Sometimes we have issues getting him to eat some veggies and his pasta (I know, he's weird about pasta!  Who doesn't love pasta?!).  To get through this hurdle, we coax him to eat the specific "muscle food" (e.g., "muscle pasta") and then make a big deal about watching his muscles grow.  It's funny to watch, but it works!

Showing off his food muscles!

The muscles work well because he is really starting to have an interest in super heroes.  We've actually been able to use super hero action figures as potty rewards and been successful with them.  He loves to put on his cape and "zoom" around the house like Super Man.  He's also starting posing like a super hero!

Super Little Buddy!

I think he'll end up being a very patriotic super hero too, because he is in love with us teaching him the Pledge of Allegiance and "The Star Spangled Banner."  It's really cute to watch him try to say/sing them along with us!

Little Buddy is also getting very interested in sports.  Football and baseball are his favorites.  He especially likes the "kicking game", where Daddy and I hold the football for him and he runs up to kick it.  I'm alright with that.  I could deal with him being a kicker and therefore being less likely to get hurt on the football field!

We're all still a little addicted to our vice of having lunch with Daddy whenever we can.  We're so lucky that Daddy works so close and is able to have lunch with us often and we can't seem to break the habit.  Little Buddy loves to see Daddy so often and Daddy admits it some of his favorite time of the day.  Yes, we're probably spending more money than we should, but Daddy pointed out that once Little Buddy starts real preschool next year, our lunch dates will be very limited, so we should just enjoy this time together while we can.  I can't help but agree.

Another vice I have is carrying Little Buddy in to his nap.  Normally, he falls asleep in the car on the way home after lunch.  Although he just keeps getting heavier, I'm still in love with carrying my sleeping baby up to his room to lay him down.  I love how he snuggles in and hugs me as I carry him, and how sweet he looks.  But I love his sweet face when he's awake too.  How could I not?

Love this kid.

Good night,
