Why, hello April! How are you? We're a quarter way through the year and I have to say we are making up for lost time from during the pandemic. We are go, go, go all the time right now. It's fun and wonderful having all these adventures together, but it is also exhausting! I forget how busy we used to be. We don't want to lose the lessons of the pandemic of enjoying just the time together and not overdoing it. We'll keep searching for some balance!
We got a little bit of a break last month while the kids were off on Spring Break. A lot of people were traveling, but we stayed home in order to save Daddy's vacation days for our summer trip to Ohio. There was plenty of fun to be had locally and we enjoyed ourselves.
Celebrating Daddy's Birthday!
We love hitting the Zoo over Spring Break!
Some sibling fun at the park!
My lucky charms on St. Patrick's Day!
Someone was overdue for a haircut; looking so good now!
The Easter Bunny came into town for Spring Break (and of course I had matching outfits ready to go)!
We got to finish out the week with a picnic on the new boat! Aunt A was even in town and got to join us. Safe to say Will approves of the boat upgrade and is ready for summer!
Enjoying horse therapy!
One of Little Buddy's Christmas presents was tickets to go see Daniel Tiger Live when it came to town this month. We love being able to share the arts with our boy any way we can and he definitely loved watching this show (as did Little Sister)!
He LOVED it! What a great experience!
Height and Weight
Well, as big as Little Buddy is growing, we were concerned that his weight was down again this month at 100.5 lbs. We're going to be adding in more calorie dense foods and monitoring his weight even more closely. We're noticing it's taking him longer to chew and swallow now and we worry we're not meeting his intake needs now that he's hit puberty. I'm just glad we keep an eye on his weight so hopefully we can correct before there is a real problem.
But seriously, how big is this kid?!?!
Personality
There can never be enough pictures of his smiles! Although we've had a tough month and he's having more periods of agitation, we are so grateful for every happy moment and bright smile we receive.
Always happy to be in his kitchen chair and getting something to eat!
Looking good!
Developmental Changes
It's been a rough one this past month. We've seen more agitation and poor sleep. This seems to be a spring issue for our boy and we worry it has something to do with the high pollen counts and his allergies. We try to trouble shoot as much as we can to hopefully offer him some relief. We do have a some big news: We were finally approved to get him back on the anakinra injections. We'll be starting those in a few days once he finishes another medication (for toenail fungus of all things) and are praying the injections help!
His agitation is so heartbreaking. We want to keep him smiling all the time!
Fun Tidbits
We've been so happy to be part of the newly formed Amazing Grace Ministry at our church this year and were especially excited that they offered Adaptive Stations of the Cross. It's the first time Little Buddy has been to Stations of the Cross since he was a baby!
So grateful he gets to participate in his faith in an appropriate manner for him.
The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and I can't believe it! Time keeps moving too quickly but I'm so thankful for every moment with this amazing boy.
Good night,
LBM
