Hello 2022! January 11

Hello 2022!  Well, here we are.  We've made it to a new year and heading into the 2 year anniversary of living through a pandemic.  I'm glad we're here but I am very tired of living through historical milestones.

After our holiday trip to San Antonio, we enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit back at home!

Quick trip up to the Gingerbread Village!

All smiles on Christmas Eve!

We enjoyed listening to Little Sister sing with the choir at Christmas Eve Mass (and I enjoyed their matching outfits since that's just who I am)!

Cookies and milk are out...c'mon Santa!

Stories and Christmas Eve snuggles!

Santa came!  Merry Christmas!

Little Buddy was NOT ready to get up, but Little Sister was ready and raring to go, but didn't want to open without her Bubby.  So we got him up.  You can see he's not exactly thrilled by the decision (and not fully awake).

Sleepy Bubby wants to go back to bed!

Thankfully, he warmed up after a bit!

Happy now about presents!

Enjoying his new books and his new controller toy!

Little Sister being a wonderful super sibling and helping Big Brother to open his presents!

Our odd but wonderful tradition continues:  new hooded towels!  Our little Eaglet and big Shark!

Ready for Christmas dinner!

The rest of our holiday break was low-key but enjoyable!  The Omicron variant of Covid is very contagious and seems to be everywhere right now.  We're fortunate that Little Buddy was able to get his second vaccination over break, but Little Sister won't get hers until next month.  So we'll keep doing what we're doing with sticking to outside outings and low crowds.

Always love hitting the zoo over break!

For New Year's, we celebrated with our new favorite tradition:  fireworks before early bedtime, followed by "Noon New Year" on New Year's Day with our saurkraut, sparkling grape juice, and recording of the ball drop.  Well-rested is the best way to start 2022!

Enjoying some firework fun!

Cheers to (noon) 2022!

Height and Weight
Puberty continues to bolster our "Little Buddy" into a "Big Buddy!"  He's at 61 1/8 inches and now 102.8 pounds.  All this is very good news as it tells us he's still getting the nutrition he needs from eating by mouth.

Maybe he's growing so big thanks to all those Christmas cookies!

Personality
We've been so blessed by his smiles and his joy.  Knock on wood, he's had very little if any agitation or episodes of being upset or sad.  He's probably the happiest pre-teen around!  We are so thankful for that.

Little Sister went back to school a day earlier than Little Buddy, so we got to have some special time together...love these smiles!

Developmental Changes
Winter Break was good for Little Buddy as it meant lots of daily walks with Daddy and Buster and other outside playtime.  Keeping him moving and his muscles strong is a top priority, so we were glad the weather cooperated for more movement opportunities!

Really happy with his performance on a park balance beam!

I also can't complain about his sleep.  Praying it stays consistent!  But we notice he is a bit more tired.  He'll often take a brief catnap after his walks and while watching a show after his shower.  Everyone mentions how good it is that he's staying seated longer now and not running off as much, but we know that this is double-sided coin.  His body is slowing down with Sanfilippo, not with some new measure of awareness and control.  But, we take the moments we have and our happy in them.

Ready for bed!

Fun Tidbits
Speaking of moving and staying strong, it's marathon time again!  WILLPower will again be participating in the Charity Challenge and Little Buddy has nearly completed his 25 miles which, along with the 2K run, will earn him another marathon medal!

Happy to be running for a cure again!

Overall, we are only hoping for a somewhat boring January in which we can all stay healthy.  Crossing all my fingers and toes!

Good night,

LBM
