Spring Pictures

Since having two kiddos, we haven't been very good about scheduling pictures, especially for Little Sister's milestones, so we decided to get some spring pictures in with our photographer.  We're so happy with how they came out!

Our Little Sweetie is growing up so fast!  She's just over 5 months in these pictures.

Mr. "Too Cool" is much too grown-up looking as well, but thankfully our photographer was able to coax out some of his silliness and smiles.

This one...oh this picture just makes my heart fly.  Love these two so much!

May they always be friends.

These pictures are just physical proof that all my dreams have come true.

Wishing you dream fulfillment of your own,

My Lucky Charms

So happy to share St. Patrick's Day with my Little Leprechauns!  Little Buddy was particularly excited over his Shamrock bow tie.

We celebrated the day by wearing our green and by making green shamrock cookies.

"Look, cut outs!"

Hope everyone enjoyed their day!

March 11

What a fun month we've had!  We've already noticed a big jump in Little Buddy's verbal ability, potty skills, and concentration since he's been out of school.  I think the consistency and routine of every day has been very helpful to him, and there's lots of learning to be had at home!

Working on letters and spelling

Drawing and writing on the new outdoor chalkboard Daddy made

Helping Daddy outside with flower planting and patio furniture assembling.  Safety first!

Baking is still one of our favorite activities.  He really likes his new jobs of sifting flour and breaking eggs!

The best part is watching him start to teach things to Little Sister.  It's beyond sweet!

Reading Sister his current favorite book, Nighttime Ninja.  "Let me read you, sister!"

Shapes lesson!

Another big part of this past month was cheering on Momma during my half marathon.  This was the third annual one I've done and his third time as my cheerleader.  His smiles give me the strength to keep going!

Cheering me on and congratulating me (while also pilfering my medal)!

He even earned his own "medal" sticker and ribbon at My Gym this month.  He was pretty proud!

My strong guy!

We also got our ashes this month.  We're still working on sitting down and listening through all of Church, but he is getting more patient and interested.

Height and Weight
Jumped up to 52 lbs. and now just a hair over 43 in.

Personality
Becoming more and more adventurous, but only really with Daddy and I.  He still prefers to play with us or by himself, but we are working on getting out and seeing our friends more so that he can have more social play.  The weather has not been helpful on that end.  He also continues to be quieter in big groups, though he is rarely quiet at home!

Developmental Milestones
Doing a great job expressing himself, uses a big cup with no problems (except when his arms flail, and is starting to report more about his feelings, likes, and dislikes.  It's so funny to hear how many things he "loves."  "We're going to Chuy's today?  It's good.  I LOVE quesadillas!"

We've also been having great success with the potty and are down to about one accident per week.  That's huge for us!  I think his new chart system helped, as well as his rewards of watching Charlie Brown before bed and getting to go to Mellow Mushroom Pizza to see Mushroom Man if he goes 7 days without an accident (we've actually streaked to 11 days once!).  Still working on encouraging him to go independently and to tell us instead of us having to prompt him, but it is very reassuring that he just needed some extra attention and routine to be successful.

So proud!

Fun Tidbits
We took him to see his second movie, The Lego Movie.  It was a huge hit with him (and pretty enjoyable for us too)!  He is pretty obsessed with it now, but it is fun seeing how much he enjoyed it.  He has now named his Lego people after the characters in the movie and creates different stories with them daily.  It wasn't hard to guess he would love the movie since he already loved his Legos so much!

Lego Movie time!

Making a diving board for "WyldStyle"!

We actually caught him in the act of instructing Sister in the way of the Lego blocks!  She was riveted.

He's still a loving big brother and interacts with his sister more every day.  I love how he includes her!

They started a band!

A tiger photo shoot!

But no matter what, he is still my sweet, silly, crazy boy.

Love this kid!

I'm so thankful that I have been able to have the extra time with him now that he is out of school.  It's been so much fun spending every day with him.  He's just growing up too fast!

Good night,

Family Date Day: Rodeo!

It's one of the best times of year in Houston: rodeo time!  We were so excited to take Little Buddy and Little Sweetie down to the rodeo for some fun.

All dressed up in his flag boots and ready to be a cowboy!

At the rodeo, checking out hay bales and tractors!

Horse riding time!

Meeting Miss Moo with Daddy and sister!

Little Buddy enjoyed the exhibits more this year.  Favorites included the milking demonstration, the baby pigs, and the rabbits.

We finished off the day with some lunch, cheering on the bands that were playing (he loved the drums!), and some ice cream.

It was a very fun day down at the rodeo!  I'm so glad we got to go and have a whole day of fun as a family.

Good night,

February 11

Another month has flown by!  It's been a busy month with Little Buddy leaving school, Sesame Street Live, my having a conference in New Orleans, and, of course, staying sane and we continue to settle into this family of four routine.

We did have our consult with our pediatrician to have Little Buddy evaluated for any issues that could be contributing to his potty and attention problems.  Long story short, he's fine.  Technically, he's cognitively advanced (he knows his stuff!) but emotionally immature (young for his age).  She basically confirmed everything our instincts had told us.   His size, his summer birthday, his new big brother status, his burn, and his lack of older siblings are all factors contributing to his distraction and inability to focus while playing.  So, with her backing, we feel very confident in our decision to take him out of school right now.  That, and the already impressive results we've seen in his behavior and his potty success since leaving school, just confirm that it was the right choice for him and our family.  And we've had lots of fun!

So much play time!  Lots of fun with Momma, working in his "office", and playing barber with Daddy!

No cavities at the dentist!

He was also a very busy guy with Daddy while I was in New Orleans...

Bought a school bus kit and made his own school bus!

Learning about flags (one of his favorite topics right now)!

Height and Weight
Still 50 lbs. and now 43 in.  He is just so big!

Personality
In love with his sister!  Truly, he always asks for her and was very concerned when she and I were in New Orleans for a conference.  I love watching him become such a loving big brother.

Tummy time with Sister and Chesney!

Cutest thing ever.  First he picks out her outfit, then he begs, "Take my picture with sister, please."

So excited sister is back from New Orleans!

Developmental Milestones
More and more words coming together, potty continues to improve, and we're working on our writing.  Also, he has totally mastered drinking out of a regular cup, with no lid on it!  Yay for no spills!

Fun Tidbits
It was our third year in a row to attend Sesame Street Live, and it was still a big hit!  Little Buddy was especially thrilled that Grover was a featured character this year (normally, the performances are focused on Elmo or Abby).  I love watching how excited he gets while watching the show!

Super Grover!

It's been so much fun with our little guy and I already feel less stressed having him with me all week and not having anxiety about him having accidents at school.  And I'll take all the time I can with him...just growing up so fast!

Good night,
