WILLPower Goes to Washington

We barely feel settled since the cruise, but it's time to get our traveling hats back on and cross off a bucket list item of taking Little Buddy and Little Sweetie to Washington, DC! The National MPS Society Conference is being held there this year, so what better time to go?

WILLPowered up and ready to fly!

We made it!

All rested up and ready to see our Sanfilippo friends and our Nation's capital!

Momma finally got to meet Ms. S!

On the Metro and ready to go explore!

We hit the District of Columbia HARD. We booked a trolley tour and walked all over and saw so much. It was Momma's 4th time in DC, but it was a first for Daddy, Little Buddy, and Little Sweetie. Amazing to see so much history! We didn't have time to do in depth tours, but we definitely filed some ideas away for a future visit when Little Sweetie is older.

Checking out the White House!

Statue of Benjamin Franklin

Headed to the Capital Building!

Please, Congress, get your act together and take care of this dream of America!

Gorgeous views of the DC layout.

The Supreme Court!

Drive by of the Jefferson Monument. Sad we didn't hav time to go in this one!

Arlington National Cemetery was amazing and we lucked into witnessing an Honor Flight. It was so moving!

The Korean War Veterans Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial

Getting our National Parks Passports stamped.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Walking up the National Mall

World War II Memorial

The Washington Monument

Back view of the White House.  Everywhere you look in DC, it's just stunning views of history!

After a day of sight-seeing, we had dinner and spent time with our new Sanfilippo friends. Always fun trying to get a Sanfilippo group picture!

Meeting Sadie for the first time!

Love these precious bundles of energies!

So wonderful to meet all these ladies in person!

The only boy of our Sanfilippo crew in attendance, and our girl moms made him a coordinating shirt to go with the girls. So handsome!

Love this community.

After a day of historic sightseeing, we decided our next day would be spent at another famous DC attraction: the Zoo! We even got to see the pandas before they headed home to China.

Enjoying a breakfast out!

Zoo time!

Panda palooza!

So cool to see the pandas in person!

A milestone worthy of panda souvenirs!

Checking out the other animals too!

Living his best life!

We ended our quick trip with more fun with Sanfilippo friends. It was a whirlwind weekend but worth it!

So good to see old friends and meet new ones!

Caught a sweet moment between siblings in the hotel room!

Ready to head back to Houston...it was a great trip and we are so glad to have so many memories to take home!

Until next time DC!

We had a wonderful time and we are glad we went.  Now ask us again in another week when we travel again, this time to Ohio. Life's short, so let's pack as much fun in as possible!

Good night,

Sept. 11

As summer slips into fall (supposedly...I don't feel like anyone has told Texas about this yet since it's still so intensely hot!), we're balancing our weekend activities with the demands of the school year.  I still don't feel like we've caught up since the cruise in July, but we'll keep trying and eventually we'll feel like we have a handle on things.  Right?  Maybe??

You know what? Let's just ignore all the stress and hit the lake to finish out the season.

Last lake days...we had a good boating season!

We also keep prioritizing our time together as a family.  And that includes things like Chuy's lunches and time with Buster!

If Chuy's ever goes out of business, we're going to have to buy this bench!

Petting the puppy!

Little Sister decided that she wanted to be a puppy for a bit!

While we always have fun with Little Sister, I'd be lying if I said that Little Buddy didn't enjoy his only child time while she was at a sleepover!

Special Daddy, Momma, and Bubby dinner!

Still loves story time!

While he had a good time getting all the attention, he was happy when she got home.  We celebrated with some matching family pajamas!

We love having s'more time together!  Get it?  GET IT?

Also, we noticed Little Buddy's hair was a getting a bit crazy.  With school pictures coming, it was time to schedule another haircut.

Crazy hair!

Post hair cut handsome!

The traditional riding of the tiger on the carousel!

I would say we ended up Picture Perfect!

One of the most exciting part of the month was Mimi and Pop-Pop's visit! We even got to enjoy an Astros game together.

Finally got Little Buddy to a home Astros game this season!

Height and Weight
Guess who it up to 113 lbs. this month?!  That's right!  We are relieved by this, but we won't be letting up now.  We are hoping to get him up to 115 or over by next month.

Hoping our big tall boys keeps filling out!

Personality
Honestly, so much more engaged and energetic and interactive!  I worry he was more lethargic this summer because we were accidentally underfeeding him. He's doing much better and full of smiles.

Developmental Changes

With the increased energy, we are trying to give him more opportunities to play with toys and activities again.  It's been a bit difficult since we used to do a lot of his activities at the kitchen table and now he's sitting there so often trying to get calories in that we don't want to keep him sitting more.  We've been trying to do more floor work with him, both upstair and downstairs.

Having fun with his megablocks!

And, of course, we're working to keep him strong and stable with his daily walks and his daily injections!

Fun Tidbits
So three days a week, I put Little Buddy on the bus and then go into work.  On those days, he and I watch Little Sister's morning announcements together.  I like that he gets to be included in the community in this way.

Good morning Monarch friends!

We have two back-to-back trips coming up over the course of the next month...wish us luck!

Good night,
