Visitors from Cincinnati!

We were so lucky to have Little Buddy's Godparents, Aunt D and Uncle C, as well as their son, J, come visit with us this weekend!  Aunt D is my cousin and we've always been very close.  Sadly, since we live in Texas, we don't get to see them very often.  In fact, we haven't seen them since J was 6 weeks old.  He's now 19 months!  Uncle C and Aunt D were also very excited to meet Little Sweetie.  We had a wonderful visit with them!

Our visitors got in late at night, after Little Buddy was in bed.  This is he and J meeting the next morning.

They became fast friends and had lots of fun at the splash pad later that morning.

Sister was unsure about her first splash pad visit...

...but had lots of fun with her new lunch buddy!

These two are too cute!

Just after one day, these three are inseparable!

We hit the park on the second day of our visit because J wanted to feed the ducks.  It was hot for the Ohio natives, but the kids had a great time!

Uncle C and J feed the ducks while Aunt D swings with Little Sweetie.

Aunt D and Daddy wrangling all the kiddos before bed!

We stayed at home on the last day of the visit so that the kids could play outside together.  I think it was safe to say that J was a fan of the pirate ship!

Best buddies!  Please don't go home today!

Pirate ship fun!

Uncle C got a workout on the swings!

So much fun!

Slide time with Aunt D...

...so then Sister needed a turn with Daddy!

Chesney got in on the fun too!

Three of my favorite kiddos!

After the pirate ship, Little Sweetie hung out in her GoPod while the big boys played in the sandbox and the water table.  We definitely had enough to keep them busy!

Loved watching them play together!

Sadly, though, the visit had to come to an end.  It was hard to say our goodbyes, but I'm hoping we all get to see each other again in the fall!

Momma and Aunt D being goofy!

Me and my Little Buddy.  I think he wanted to go home with J!

J was definitely going to miss Chesney!  He loved living with a dog for the weekend!

Cousins!

Godson with his amazing Godparents!

I'm going to miss this little guy!

I can't say enough what an amazing time we had.  Thank you Uncle C and Aunt D for coming down!  It's hard to be away from family, so it means a lot when we can make up for lost time during an adventure-filled weekend.

Good night,

Let's Go to the Beach!

We continued our Memorial Weekend tradition with another trip with some of our Texas "family".  This year, we decided to go back to the beach at Port Aransas but, instead of getting separate condos, we rented a large beach house so we could all stay together.  We had a wonderful time!

The view from the top deck of our beach house.  The ocean is right behind those dunes!

Little Buddy walking down the boardwalk!

 Almost there!

The big kiddos are having fun!

And Little Sweetie had a great first time in the ocean!

The weather was great!  We just had to deal with some seaweed on one of the days.

When we weren't at the beach, we were having a great time at the beach house.  I think staying in one place together worked out really well.  Thank you to the D family and the E family for such an awesome trip!

Hugs on deck for Little Buddy!

E entertaining Little Sweetie for us!

It was an amazing weekend and I can't wait to go again!

Family Fun in Texas

After a wonderful trip to Ohio last month, we were lucky again to visit with some family but this time in Texas.  Uncle C received his Masters degree from Rice and Mimi and Pop-Pop came down to celebrate!  Little Buddy and Little Sweetie were very excited to have some grandparent attention again.

Rice Commencement Ceremony

Little Buddy was a bit unsure about Uncle C in his robes, until he made the connection between these robes and the robes that the Statue of Liberty wears.

Congrats Uncle C!

Who doesn't love when grandparents come into town?

Brother and sister had a great time with Mimi and Pop-Pop and Daddy and I were very grateful to them for watching the kiddos while we had an overnight date night (our first night away from Sam).  I know the kids loved having special time with them and it means so much to Daddy and I to be able to enjoy our night together (instead of getting overly emotional about leaving baby girl--sniff) knowing they were making wonderful memories with their grandparents.

Good night,

May 11

It's been a fun month!  After our visit to Ohio, it did take a bit of time to get back into our routine, but we're almost there (just in time to go out of town on a trip for Memorial Weekend at the end of the month ;) ).

It's been getting warming, so we've been prepping for summer.  First things first, Little Buddy needed a new haircut!  He has such thick hair and it grows so fast, Daddy talked me into buzzing it with clippers.  It's so short now!  It took me a bit to adjust, but it will certainly help keep him cooler.

Getting his buzz!

Summer also means swimming time, so we took a quick trip down to our neighborhood pool to start the season.  Goodness, the pool requires so much more stuff now that we have two kids!

These kids have it made in the shade!

Although summer is coming, our learning time continues on.  He particularly liked his Statue of Liberty lesson (he's a big US history fan already) and is now obsessed with the clip of it "walking" from Ghostbusters 2 (80s movie clips are also an important part of our curriculum)!

A picture of the real Statue of Liberty and then some pop culture about it!

Even with learning time, we still make time to have fun!  Especially on days when we are obsessed with our football helmet.  It the perfect accessory to wear to the park (although I need to remind him that clothes are also necessary) as well as during lemonade making.

 Height and Weight
And we've grown again: 52.5 pounds and 43 3/4 inches tall.  His 4 year well check is next month, so I am interested to see if he keeps up his 99th percentile streak!

Personality
Very social and loving still, but can be shy when put on the spot!  It's really amazing to watch him with his sister, though.  Such a little caretaker!  It's fun to watch him "teach" her and accept her playing with him!

Brother and sister time!

Developmental Milestones
Oh the potty.  I know one day he'll be potty independent, but sometimes it get stressful waiting!  We're trying to give him more ownership of his potty behavior so that he can learn to listen to his body and go without our reminders.  We keep reminding ourselves that it's a process.   It's just funny because it doesn't bother him at all to have an accident (he's actually getting really good at cleaning the carpet) and rewards don't matter much to him.  He did choose new rewards (a bite of cheese and watching the Ghostbusters Statue of Liberty video) so we'll see if that will help motivate him.  Otherwise, still just progressing verbally and working on LISTENING and controlling those ants in his pants!

Fun Tidbits
Right now he is very interested in golf!  Because Daddy went golfing when we were back in Marietta, Little Buddy decided that he wanted to golf too.  So Daddy went and got him a set of clubs and they started work!

Have a good night,
