September 11

Well, we've finished the summer, started the school year, and blessedly made it to September relatively  unscathed.

Little Buddy's transition to middle school went fairly well.  We got to meet his teacher and get a look around the school.  Lots of mixed emotions as he moves up.  I completely recognize the blessing that our amazing boy has even reached this milestone, but it's still a reminder of how different his middle school experience is going to be than what it could have been.  Milestone moments are always tough on our hearts, but they don't minimize how proud we are of him.

Excited to be Cougar!

Little Sister started her school the day before Little Buddy, so we got to have one special day together.  We went to the library, to the park, and got to have a special lunch with Daddy.

Mr. Cool Dude had Momma all to himself!

Special day for Little Buddy means we should have some pie!

And then the next day he was off!  Well, kinda.  They forgot to approve him for bussing and we only found out that morning...but eventually, he was off!  We were able to get bussing fixed the next week.

This tall drink of water is now a middle schooler!

Our first big event at middle school:  Picture Day!  Of course Momma secured her usual volunteering spot to insure a good picture of our favorite boy.

That smile!  Worth every volunteer hour!

Even with school starting, we've still tried to relish the moments we have together.

Couch cuddling is my favorite.

Some swim time with the E family over Labor Day weekend!

The weather has started to *slightly* cool, so we're hoping to be able to have more fun outside!

Height and Weight
Someone dropped a pound this month but shot up nearly an inch!  This month he's at 93.4  pounds and nearly 61 inches!  We are obviously in the middle of quite the growth spurt for this guy.

Big guy!

Personality
Still pretty loud, but mostly content.  We wonder if the loudness is to compensate for his loss of speech and he's just trying to communicate in whatever way he can.  Otherwise, he's been super sweet and sleeping great!

Always happy when he gets surprised with pie!

Developmental Changes
Little Buddy actually adjusted really well to his new schedule with school and therapy.  It doesn't hurt that school now starts an hour later and he gets to sleep in, lol!  We've been picking him up early each day too, so that we can pick up Little Sister and get him home in time for therapy.  So his school days are fairly short.

We're excited for his horse therapy to start again next week too!  Overall, he's holding pretty strong, but we never want to waiver in his services.  We need our boy strong and engaged!

Look who was featured on the invitation for the gala benefiting his horse therapy ranch!  Can't wait for him to ride again.

Fun Tidbits
More baseball fun for us this month!  Momma's friend, Mr. R, is an athletic trainer for the Seattle Mariners and we've been trying to meet him at an Astros games for YEARS, but it's never worked out.  Until now!  Mr. R kindly got us ADA tickets for the game so that Little Buddy could attend in his chair and we had a great time seeing him and cheering on the Astros!

Ready for the game!

Thank you for an awesome afternoon, Mr. R!

Every moment is a gift and we're excited for another month of moments to come!

Until October,

LBM
