June 11: On a Scale of 1 to 10, You're an ELEVEN!

Why hello there, June!  Remember when I said the first half of our month last month had been low key?  Well strap in tight because since then we have blasted off to busy town!

Summer "break" is a lie...we have done nothing but go, go, go since mid March!  Little Buddy finished up his school year (and his last year of elementary school *sob*) with a Dance-A-Thon, a fifth grade party, and some pretty cool pics in his fifth grade memory book.

Cutting a rug at the dance-a-thon!

Ready for his last day!

Jumanji fun at the 5th Grade Party!

So intrigued by the summer snow balls in Texas!

Last moments of elementary...I'm not ready!

We did it...we all survived elementary school!

Beautiful surprise to see Little Buddy's "When I Grow Up" picture in the 5th Grade Memory Book.  These things normally cause me a lot of sadness when I think about them, but we didn't know that this was happening and we're asked...and we couldn't have been more touched by the awesome choice they made for him.  A marathon runner.  Man, I really like that.

Once the school year ended, we had to adjust our daily routine, especially since the end of the school year coincided with Daddy going back into the office (boo!).  But man, after the laziness of last summer, the business of this summer has already begun to overwhelm me!

Memorial Day signaled our activity meter getting kicked up a few thousand notches.

My new breakfast buddy...with Daddy back at work again, Momma's sabbatical is over and I'm taking charge again.

Getting out and about and checking out the new location of We Rock the Spectrum!

Hitting some green spaces and meeting Daddy for lunch!

When it's too hot, my bookworm is happy to stay in the air-conditioning and entertain himself.

Weekends are for the lake!  We even got to take Aunt A and Uncle C out on the boat when they were in town.

We've also been busy raising some Sanfilippo Awareness!  Our summer events usually include MPS Awareness Day and the Lemonade Stand, but we didn't get to do anything last year.  We were glad to pick back up this year, but man, it's so weird planning events again!

Happy MPS Awareness Day!

A hot but very successful lemonade stand!

The biggest deal in June for us though is always Little Buddy's birthday.  Every moment with him is precious and we were excited to gear up to the big day.  As always, the week leading up to it happens to be our Church's VBS, which couldn't be more perfect, since everyone there shows our sweet boy the most amazing love and acceptance.

Ready for an amazing week at VBS!

Getting to see L at VBS!

Little Buddy is old enough this year to be on 'staff' with Momma!  We were excited to run the Games station together.

Going to bed for the last time as a 10 year old!

Birthday pie (peach) is baked and presents are ready!

Good morning, Mr. Eleven-Year-Old!

Cake, presents, a balloon drop, and a blessing at VBS!

Home and time for PIE!!!

Sitting in his new yogibo and enjoying some of his presents!

Little Sister likes the yogibo too!

Cuddling Momma wearing our matching Snoopy Pajamas while trying out his new Snoopy in Space sheets!

Height and Weight
This month he's at  90.1 pounds and about 59.5 inches!  We've noticed his weight dropping down just a bit.  We don't know if it's because of increased activity because of summer, puberty growth, or Sanfilippo, but we will continue to keep an eye on it to keep our big boy all nice and beefed up!  Keeping a good weight on him is very important for a variety of health reasons, so we are in it to win in.

Personality
Continued smiles and happiness!  So glad that all of those smiles are mine during the summer; I bask in them!

Give me all the smiles!

Developmental Changes
We've lucked out several times this past month.  We finally have PT back and our new therapist seems lovely!  Summer horse therapy is going through July too, so we're thrilled to get Little Buddy that extra exercise and strength training in additional to regular PT again.  OT, after a brief hiatus due to paperwork lag, is back on the schedule.  Now we're just waiting for our new speech therapist.  We know that Little Buddy's regression can start happening quicker as he gets older but we're doing our best to combat that.  We're meeting with his geneticist and pediatrician for his appointments this week and are hopeful for good health reports and a chance to get back on the anakinra through an off-label program.  Here's hoping!

Fun Tidbits
Every year, we are blessed that Ms. J shares her photography talents with us.  She captures Little Buddy's innate light and joy so well and gives us the most beautiful moments to treasure.  This year was no exception.

Our 11 year old boy, our miracle.  He is so grown up!

Trying to rest in feelings of gratitude right now.  It's hard...every birthday causes so many conflicting feelings.  But I'm going to focus on the joy.

Good night,

LBM
